By accessing or using the RydeSafe platform ("the Service"), you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree, you must not use the Service.
Nature of Service
RydeSafe is a community-driven information platform. RydeSafe is NOT a transport provider, taxi service, security company, or emergency response service. We do not dispatch vehicles, employ drivers, or guarantee passenger safety.
We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or partnered with Uber, Bolt, InDrive, or any other e-hailing, metered taxi, or transport network company. Any trademarks or brand names referenced within the app belong to their respective owners and are used solely for informational purposes.
The Service aggregates and displays user-generated safety reports. It is intended as a supplementary safety tool and must never be treated as a substitute for your own judgement, official law enforcement channels, or emergency services (SAPS: 10111, Ambulance: 10177).
Limitation of Liability
Ride Outcomes
RydeSafe acts as a database for crowdsourced safety reports. We are not responsible for the outcome of any trip, the conduct of any driver, or the physical safety of any passenger. No information displayed on this platform constitutes a safety guarantee.
Data Accuracy
While we employ OCR (Optical Character Recognition) technology to extract data from user-submitted screenshots, we do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any report. A "No Reports Found" status does not guarantee that a ride is safe - it simply means no incidents have been logged in our database for that vehicle.
Decision Making
The decision to enter, remain in, or exit any vehicle rests solely and entirely with the user. RydeSafe, its directors, employees, affiliates, and contributors shall not be held liable for any damages, injury, loss of life, or financial loss resulting - directly or indirectly - from a user's reliance on information provided by the app.
Service Availability
We make commercially reasonable efforts to keep the Service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. RydeSafe shall not be liable for any loss or inconvenience caused by service downtime, data loss, or technical failures.
Important
To the maximum extent permitted by South African law, RydeSafe's total aggregate liability for any claim arising from or related to the Service is limited to the subscription fees paid by you in the 12 months preceding the claim.
User Conduct
By using the Service, you agree to:
- •Provide truthful, accurate, and good-faith safety reports based on your genuine experience.
- •Not submit false, misleading, or malicious reports intended to damage a driver's reputation, harass any individual, or manipulate trust scores.
- •Not use the Service for any unlawful purpose, including but not limited to stalking, harassment, or discrimination.
- •Not attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, scrape, or misuse the Service or its data.
Enforcement
Submitting false reports may result in a permanent ban from the platform. RydeSafe reserves the right to report fraudulent or malicious activity to the South African Police Service and to pursue civil remedies where appropriate.
Subscription, Cancellation & Refunds
Subscription Billing
RydeSafe Premium operates on a monthly subscription at R49.00/month (ZAR), with an optional 7-day free trial for new subscribers. By subscribing, you authorise RydeSafe (via PayFast, a registered South African payment gateway) to charge your selected payment method automatically at the start of each billing cycle.
Cancellation
You may cancel your subscription at any time from the "My Profile" section of the RydeSafe app. Upon cancellation, your Premium access will continue until the end of your current paid billing period. No further charges will be processed after cancellation takes effect.
No-Refund Policy
Due to the digital nature of the Service and the immediate access granted to our safety database upon payment:
- •We do not offer refunds for partial or unused subscription periods.
- •No refunds will be issued once the Service has been used to check a vehicle or submit a report during the billing period.
- •Refunds will only be considered in the event of a confirmed technical billing error, verified by our support team.
Free Tier
RydeSafe offers a free tier with limited monthly searches and reports. Free-tier users are not charged and may upgrade to Premium at any time.
Driver Dispute Process
Drivers who believe a report filed against their vehicle is inaccurate or malicious may submit a formal dispute through the RydeSafe Driver Dispute Portal. Disputes are reviewed within 7 business days. Reports found to be false or unsubstantiated will be removed, and the reporting user may face account action.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes arising from or in connection with the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the South African courts.
RydeSafe reserves the right to update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Service after changes are published constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
